THE NON-LIVING ENDANGERED SPECIES
Pay phones are seizing to exist. As time goes on they become more and more obsolete. When almost everyone has a cellphone at arms reach they have no use for these ancient relics. In a way as the project title suggest, pay phones are a non-living endangered species. Eventually, they will seize to exist in the developed world.
My goal in this project was to go around my hometown of San José, CA, and document every phone booth I was able to find. They all varied in condition. Some were almost brand new, appearing as if no one other than the person in charge of installing it had ever touched it. Others show their wear and tear. Some have pieces missing, rendering the phones useless. Some have nothing inside of them, just an empty shell of its former self, leading to it being used as a trash can.
