DIGITAL PROJECTS

These are examples of some digital projects I have made.

"Eye on Campus"

This project is an eyeball shaped surveillance camera. Security cameras are all around us, keeping an eye on what we do and when we do it. Usually they are small and discrete hiding in plain slight to not draw attention to the fact that they are recording.
In this project I decided to create a camera that does not shy away from the fact that it is watching and recording you. It is a giant eye ball keeping watch and following those who pass near it. This camera deals with the idea of surveillance and the feeling of constantly being watched. It is an 8 ft tall eyeball to give people the feeling that there is a giant eye looming over them. People value their privacy and the idea of constantly being watched is terrifying.
I decided to place it in tower lawn of SJSU since it has a lot of traffic throughout the day. People that sit, lay, play on the grass, walk into or out of the library, or walk to class will see this eye following them and give the illusion that it is recording their every move. I created a mock-up of how it would look like during the day and night.

Dia de Los Muertos: Catrina

Dia de Los Muertos is filled with beautiful imagery, it is a holiday to celebrate and remember those who are no longer with us. One of the most interesting aspects of this holiday are the beautiful Catrinas, lady skulls with incredible and intricate designs. Here is my attempt at creating one. Originally this was meant to be a painting on an actual canvas but after completing the hand drawn drawing, I decided to digitize it and paint it in Photoshop.

Parody

Inspired by different topics, I created a series of parody works that pay homage to the actual topic in a humorous tone.

"Me, Myself, and I"

In this series of photographs, I featured myself in different scenarios with multiple me's. I photographed myself multiple times in different position and clothing and then blended them together in Photoshop, to make it look like a single photograph.

All work created by M.Gaona Art & Design.
